Congratulations Mrs Obama!

Mrs Michelle Obama has recently been voted as America's most admired woman and I couldn't be more happier. Mrs Obama is a wonderful role model for women of all ethnicities and a great example of black excellence. Her phrase "when they go low we go high" has become a mantra and it's something that we should all strive to follow.

History in the making
I was 8 years old when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and I can remember my teacher writing on the blackboard in large letters "NELSON MANDELA IS FREE". I was too young to fully understand what was going on but as I grew older I would regularly look back on that moment in appreciation. Mrs Obama will forever be remembered as the first black first lady of the United States and I'm so glad that I am of an age where I can fully appreciate her significance.

Naysayers have to eat their words
In September 2008, Chris Rock released a comedy special entitled "Kill the Messenger" in which he discussed his thoughts on Barack Obama's chances of becoming president of the United States. During the routine Chris Rock stated that it was going to be hard for Barack Obama to be president because he has a black wife. He went on to say that he didn't think a black woman could be first lady of the United States. Thankfully all of Michelle Obama's naysayers are standing on the wrong side of history.
